April 2016 Issue: Report: Seminar on the Five Main Stations of BS,
BSD Life and TOKYO MXTV

SPI, a pioneer of strategic/statistical media planning/analysis and the media buying audit sector in Japan, encouraging optimization of marketing ROI and the achievement of transparency / accountability, held a seminar on the five main stations of BS, BSD Life and TOKYO MXTV at the office of CM Souken Co. on 24 February 2016. As there were over fifty applicants, the seminar was given in three parts.

While television, still the most significant mass communication tool, has been losing its influence on audiences, BS and TOKYO MXTV have been getting more and more attention for their original media strategies which have enabled them to play a role in compensating for the weakened presence of the five Tokyo terrestrial television networks.
However, application of effective/precise media planning to these media remains difficult due to the lack of constructive media methods, efficiency and planning.

The theme of the seminar was “Media Planning with BS and MXTV Do BS and MXTV Could Replace the Five Terrestrial Television Networks in Tokyo”, using the SPI original database and analysis method.
Some points covered were:

• Recent media power and TV rating trends
• The characteristics of BS, BSD Life, TOKYO MXTV and other TV stations
• Efficiency of GRP and Reach
• Specific media planning methodology and budget allocation by target

The seminar took place in a completely closed environment to properly protect the confidentiality of our unique data and analyses.
